JOB TITLE: Accountant

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer

SUMMARY: The Accountant is a key member of the accounting/finance team at National Diversity Council (NDC), responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and records. This position will play a pivotal role in maintaining the organization’s financial health, supporting budgeting and reporting processes, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES SHARED BETWEEN ACCOUNTING STAFF:

● Maintain well-organized financial records and uphold precise bookkeeping to ensure accessibility.

● Precisely record invoices into accounting system, verifying comprehensive details including itemized services, appropriate coding and classification, and ensuring Form W-9’s and ACH forms are uploaded for timely payment processing.

● Manage the accounts payable process, including the performance of 3-way match verification to ensure alignment between invoices, service agreements, and authorized approval signatures.

● Meticulously review and verify invoices, check disbursement log, bank statements, and QuickBooks report for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with organizational policies and GAAP.

● Confirm bank deposits, apply ACH and credit card payments, and accurately process credits and refunds.

● Manage bad debt write-offs, monitor pledge receivables aging, and oversee outstanding receivables – collaborating on strategies to enhance financial stability.

● Conduct thorough research, data analysis, and transaction reconciliation to support cross-functional collaborations in ad hoc reporting, special projects, and initiatives as required.

● Assist in the preparation of financial meetings, audits, and month-end close process through compilation of financial statements and provide supporting documentation and information as needed.

● Collaborate with the CFO to actively participate in the development and improvement of internal financial controls and processes, financial policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with best practices, organizational goals, and regulatory requirements.

● This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

● Bachelor’s Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or two to four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

● Computer skills required: Accounting Software; Contract Management Systems; Development Software; Human Resource Systems; Inventory Software; Microsoft Office Suite; Payroll Systems; Project Management Software

● Preferred: Non-profit accounting experience, SAGE Intacct system experience, CPA or CPA Candidate

●       The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 10 pounds.

SALARY:

● $58,000-$63,000, depending on experience and location.
