COMPENSATION: $70,000-$75,000
SUMMARY: The Manager of Institutional Advancement is the National Diversity Council’s (NDC) primary point-of-contact to initiate fundraising development and is responsible for attracting, cultivating, garnering, and retaining support through grants (particularly corporate foundations), donations, and gifts.
Actively working with the CEO, the Manager of Institutional Advancement will develop, implement and oversee a multi-level advancement strategy plan that will include: drafting and submitting grant proposals: institutional donors building base of individual donors; ensuring Advancements and online systems promote donations; manage SalesForce CRM for Advancement and lead basic operations for a start-up Advancement function. a. The Manager of Institutional Advancement is responsible for strengthening and diversifying funding sources. They are charged with key responsibilities to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward funds and gifts from external stakeholders.
To be successful in this position, the Manager of Institutional Advancement will need to be comfortable working in a fast paced start-up mode in Advancement and be comfortable in undertaking continuous outreach and networking to ensure fundraising goals are met or exceeded. This position requires a systems thinker with an eye for strategy, the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, and excellent writing, project management, and interpersonal skills.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the CEO to create and implement a comprehensive startup Advancement plan that meets fundraising goals
- Work with relevant internal teams to oversee donor database implementation and management. Develop processes to ensure NDC holds current and accurate donor profiles
- Establish development tools for timely gift acknowledgements and ongoing communication that exceeds donor expectations.
- Collaborate with staff team and communications team to develop effective tools to ensure that fundraising efforts are fully integrated into websites, social media, events, and other communications.
- Assist in building a donor development and retention strategy, with a focus on corporate donors
- In collaboration with Communications, develop and implement strategies to develop an individual donor base, particularly online
- Manage giving systems and donor infrastructure at a macro level, including research, identification and development of a diversified donor base
- Research new grant opportunities, analyze submissions/awards and coordinate and execute all grant processes (e.g. evaluations, budget, feasibility, reporting, etc.)
- Write, assemble and submit grants and proposals and maintain proposal calendar and financial management of grants.
- Report regularly on Advancement performance, assessing against and modifying to achieve goals, with a focus on key performance indicators and return on investment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree, master’s a plus
- Preference for 5-6 years experience of demonstrable and relevant fundraising professional experience, including in a virtual environment
- Demonstrated experience with donor development and fundraising strategies
- Highly dynamic professional with proven track record of building donor relationships
- Technical implementation and knowledge of fund-raising database software (Salesforce), MS Office Suite, Google Work Space, and Zoom
- Interest in and knowledge of the diversity, equity, and inclusion space
- Strong organizational and research skills and high energy level
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
